Property Description
Five Islands is a spirit-filled, tight community of lobsterman, year round and summer residents. It is very welcoming to all. Our home is situated on the loop around the neighborhood, which means the quintessential, small town 4th of July parade passes by, in addition to the Halloween parade. The Georgetown Community center at the top of the hill is a community hub - potlucks, food drives, annual auction, art shows. The community really cares for one another. The Georgetown library is wonderful; in the winter they let you take bags of books home ('Blizzard books') so that they can be enjoyed all winter by residents when the library is shut down/winterized.
The neighborhood has tennis and basketball courts for its residents. There is a pretty little beach down Ledgemere Road, and a half-mile nature preserve (stunning). Of course, Reid State Park has one of the most beautiful stretches of beach anywhere in Maine, is addition to a quiet lagoon, barbecue grills and a beach house. That is about three miles from the house. About halfway between the house and Reid State Park is Charles Pond, freshwater swimming and ice skating in the winter.
Of course, Five Islands Lobster is an award-winning outdoor seating restaurant in the heart of Five Islands, one of the prettiest coves in Maine (and that's saying a lot). The Five Islands Farm offers flowers, fresh fruit/vegetables, gourmet cheese and wine. Fine dining with another amazing view is offered at Blue Restaurant at the Grey Haven's Inn, along the road to Reid.
Robinhood Cove and Marina is another fun spot to visit and dine at the Osprey Restaurant.
So many other places to enjoy in this little town, in addition to Bath, just 20 minutes away, and Boothbay less than an hour (closer by boat).
